Gelamie S.
She/HerProgram Director - Laurelhurst
If I were to describe my teaching and leadership style in one word, I would choose: kindness. I believe kindness should become a part of the classroom culture, and not something extra that we fit in. I began my Educator journey eight years ago when I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce in the program of Arts in Elementary Education. I have taught in different classroom environments, including Montessori, traditional style classrooms, ESL classrooms, STEAM oriented classrooms and others. I’ve worked with kiddos from Pre-School ages to 12-year-olds and I truly feel that Education is my personal calling. I continuously aim to learn and grow within this field. As such, I will be pursuing my Master of Education with the University of Washington.
I moved to Washington State three years ago from Puerto Rico and I have consistently maintained myself in teaching and in leadership roles. As LASER at Laurelhurst’s Program Director, I aim to be an active leader by working hands-on with our teachers and families in order to provide the best experience for all of our kids. I will make myself available to staff and families alike and listen attentively to concerns and needs, and will do my best to find solutions that can benefit everyone’s best interest.
